What goes into creating our art?
KDR Photography editing style can be described as bright, colorful and cheerful. We work diligently to achieve a classic and clean look so that your pictures will never look dated. It’s important to us that the images that you invest in look just as amazing today as they will 20 years from now when your children look upon them.
During the editing process, we go through hundreds of images to find the perfect ones to work on. While our criteria for perfection is high, we can assure that the final images that you see will both wow you and tug on your heart-strings. We choose images based on technical elements (lighting and composition) as well as how flattering or meaningful the images are. It’s our goal to provide you with images that capture you and your family’s most authentic expressions. We absolutely hate deer in the headlight smiles (probably just as much as you do) and we only choose images that show genuine emotion.
We use a style of “hand-editing” which means that we do not use filters to achieve our look. This means that every image that is edited is handled with care.
While editing people, we do minor enhancements to help accentuate the subjects natural beauty. It’s you, on your very best day. While we do have the capability to do major body modifications and enhancements, we will never alter your body without your permission. Additionally, we will only remove marks that wouldn’t be visible in two weeks (i.e acne, bruises, scuffs, scratches, or runny noses).
Sometimes, when the picture is just perfect for it, we use our editing skills to create magical scenes just for you. Other-times, we may find an image that would look simply stunning in our moody black and white style. If you do have a specific request, please let us know during your pre-session consultation meeting so we can discuss how to make this possible for you.
We use photoshop as a tool in a variety of other ways to help enhance the scene including removing distracting elements from the background, face swapping (to get everyone looking at the camera at the same time) as well as a ton of other ways to help create the most timeless picture possible.
Our editing style is intensive, but it’s worth it. We love the editing process because it’s when we can pull together all of the hard work setting up the session into a final work of art for you to treasure.
