Meet Enrique- Mini Session

Meet Enrique

Meet 3-year-old Enrique, a shy and sensitive soul that LOVES scooby doo, is fascinated by airplanes and enjoys playing in the dirt. Originally, Enrique was signed up for our Sonoran Spring Mini-Session featuring our ducklings. However, we realized quickly that Enrique wasn’t quite ready to take on that challenge just yet. Instead, we used the remainder of the mini-session to help Enrique feel as comfortable as possible in order to capture the shots below. I first met Enrique and his mother, Adelina when Enrique was still a baby and I can’t believe what a handsome little man he’s growing into.

Enrique serves as the perfect reminder that sometimes, photo shoots can be scary. When working with particularly shy children, it can be slow moving because it takes time to develop a sense of trust. Although it may be nerve wracking for parents because we all want to see our children’s best smiles captured, it’s essential to respect the child and listen to when they are ready to stop.

Enrique, you did a fantastic job and I hope Mommy gave you a whole box of Scooby Snacks to celebrate a job well done! 🙂

Sonoran Spring Time Mini-Sessions

Sonoran Spring Time Mini-Sessions

It’s spring time again, the weather is beautiful and we are ready to celebrate!  This year, my family has added adorable fuzzy ducklings to our farm. Lula, Roe, Chris, Martin and Piper are ready to play and we are so excited to spread the love. In honor of our newest additions, and for the first time EVER, KDR Photography is proud to announce “Sonoran Spring Time Mini-Sessions”.

Here are the details:

-From March 3rd until April 8th, we will be offering 30-minute mini-sessions. Sessions can include up to four children (ages one and up).
-Sessions will include time to snuggle with our ducklings as well as three digital images with print releases. All digital images will be edited and polished exactly as our regular sessions are.
-Don’t feel like driving? We will come to you! Because of our personal photography style, we can photograph these sessions just about anywhere. Because of this, we are more than happy to directly to you and set up shop outdoors. Don’t have a place in mind? We are happy to make suggestions.
–A non-refundable session fee of $70.00 will be due at booking to confirm your session time and date.

What to wear?

It’s completely up to you! However, we find that soft pastel colors look best against the soft yellows of the ducklings. We typically recommend choosing your child’s prettiest spring-time outfits. Take a look at our Pinterest boards for inspiration!

Terms and Conditions

-This deeply discounted session fee can only be used for Sonoran Spring Time Mini Sessions.
-Kaiti will personally choose the three of the best digitals and edit them to perfection. Image choices will be based on several factors including the visibility of natural expressions, lighting, and composition. Don’t worry, we only choose the best of the best and we are sure that you will love every shot! 🙂
-Files and your print release will be delivered electronically within one week of your session date.
-We love our animals and require that they are treated gently and with respect. We are more than happy to assist in teaching your child how to handle them gently, however, if we feel that your child is intentionally harming our ducklings will end the session.
-Sessions can only be set for children ages one and up.
-A release from liability waiver must be signed prior to your session.

We can’t wait to get started! Click here to set up your session and we will be in contact as quickly as possible. Let the magic begin!

Meet the Jennings Family

Meet the Jennings family!

During this session, my assistant Ingrid and I felt like we were on a safari while we tried to keep up with the kiddos and their speedy quick antics. Fortunately, we were able to wrangle up everyone and capture the whimsical nature of childhood.

One of my favorite parts of photographing young children is that it’s often impossible to predict just what will happen because little ones are SO spontaneous. Especially in new locations, children are filled with an overwhelming desire to explore and that always takes full priority. As a rule of thumb, rather than forcing a child into a typical “sit-up-straight-and-smile” type pose, I play fly on the wall and capture the child naturally playing or in this case, digging in the sand. This method gets rid of the “deer in the headlights” smile and gives a more authentic and genuine feel to the overall images.

During this particular adventure, Ingrid and I were busy jumping through bushes, hiding secret gems for the children to find and playing tag team with puppets trying to get everyone’s attention. I’m sure the passerby’s must have thought we looked crazy! 🙂

Meet The Lewis Family

Meet the Lewis Family

Just look at how little princess Kira has grown!! At two years old, we have been working with Kira since she was just a little bump. Now, she is a walking, talking, sassy, little princess, that lights up her mommy and daddy’s world. So far we have been there for her mother’s maternity session, Kira’s birth, six month, 8 month and first-year pictures. Now that she is big girl, we stick around and visit with our camera annually to document her growth and changes.

Style

Like many of our wonderful clients, Steven, Jessica and Kira are very relaxed when it comes to details. We love that they trust our judgment enough plan sessions that they love because it allows for a bit more creative freedom. One of the benefits of working so closely with repeat clients is that we come to know their lifestyle and we are able to guide them in a direction that they are bound to love. For this session we were out in nature near the river, so we recommended soft pastels and whites to keep everything cohesive.

Props

Again, like in Karina’s session, we had Kira play with specific a specific toy that when looking back, will flood her mother and father with memories of Kira’s life at two-years-old. We often recommend bringing along a favorite stuffed animal for this reason because not only does it comfort little ones during their session, it also helps document their lives. Because Kira was turning two and her birthday was lady bug themed, her mother made an adorable little sign for her to hold. We loved it!

Location

One of our favorite nature spots to shoot in is near the river. It allows for a wonderful variety of looks and also gives that magical element of water that isn’t commonly found in Tucson, Arizona. It’s a fantastic place for those who are okay with getting a little muddy along the way! In the end, it makes for some really spectacular scenery!

Jessica and Steven, we thank you again for allowing us to witness the changes in your life. We love you and can’t wait to see what happens next!!

Meet Karina

Meet Karina and her Family

Karina, Josh and I met initially last year during Karina’s pregnancy. She and Josh we expecting little Coraline and we ended up becoming friends. I’ve had the pleasure of watching Karina become a mother to her precious little girl since before she was born! There’s always something incredible from watching a bump transform into a little person.

Karina and Josh are a laid back couple and so we thought it was fitting to do a session in a wide open field. The golden grasses, bright blue skies, and openness give a sense of hope and optimism to these pictures. Because of their relaxed nature, we focused on images featuring genuine connections between parents and child rather than super formal posed images.

If you notice in some of these images, little Coraline is touching her nose or playing with her ball. By including these images, we are able to look back years from now and see that at year-old Coraline was learning about her body parts and loved playing soccer. I always find ways to add in personal details like this because it serves as a perfect milestone marker for all of the amazing changes that happen over the years.

Karina, Coraline and Josh are one of our annual families and we can’t wait to work with them again!!
