Meet Penelope and Adelynn Mini Session

Meet Penelope and Adelynn

One of the greatest treasures that comes from my business is meeting unexpected lifelong friends along the road. We meet, laugh, relate to one another and before we know it, we’re planning future playdates with our children. The Colley family is one of those special families that I’ve come to think of as close friends.

We met initially when little Adelynn had just been born. It was the start of my career and I photographed their family enjoying one another, while my own two little boys played in the background. We quickly realized that our children were close to the same age and we’ve been friends ever since.

Penelope is a strong willed 4 year old self-professed vegan with a mind of her own. She recently decided to dye her hair “rainbow” and loves to ask questions. Little sister, 2 year old Adelynn is the quieter of the two and she has a fascination for finding and fixing objects.

Style

This session was a bit different than our regular sessions because we decided to combine the Sonoran Mini-Session with a playdate so all our kids could play together. The girls were dressed in matching denim dresses while my little guys were dressed like they always are, barefooted and in jeans. Both the Colley family and ours is very laid back and we enjoy simplistic style that gives our children the freedom to move. In fact, this simplistic style is often the most flattering to photograph. Children are not as restricted as they would be in nicer clothing and parents don’t have to worry as much if the children decide to play in the dirt, which they always end up doing! 🙂

In Closing

Although this was a session, to me, it was a day I will never forget. It was a day spent with friends letting our children run wild in our open rural neighborhood. As parents, Rachael, Jason and I couldn’t help but laugh at our children’s silly antics. It was a day that my oldest son held a girl’s hand for the first time (cue the sappy mommy tears!!). It was a day of seeing just how these two beautiful little girls have grown and seeing glimpses of the women that they someday might become. Thank you for the memories!!
